Travers Solar Project – Alberta, Canada
Opportunity
Montrose’s Canadian Consulting and Engineering Division (formerly Matrix Solutions) provided support on the 465 MW Travers Solar Project from initial land selection through permitting, construction, and now during operations. Prior to construction, tasks included constraints mapping, wildlife, vegetation, and soils baseline surveys, preparing regulatory submissions for Alberta Environment and Parks and the Alberta Utilities Commission application, and attendance at the stakeholder open house.
Results
Following project approval, our team developed weed management and seeding plans, a conceptual conservation and reclamation plan, and completed the Water Act application to guide mitigation measures required during construction. Our environmental inspectors were onsite throughout construction to monitor activities and confirm alignment with the project-specific Environmental Protection Plan. As the project has moved into operations, we continue to support by completing post-construction mortality monitoring as well as interim monitoring site assessments to understand current vegetation conditions on-site.
