For 35 years, Dr. Bruce Godfrey owned and managed the largest environmental lab in Northern California. He was also involved in the resurrection of a dormant California environmental lab accreditation program where, as a board member, he and his team ushered in the standards-based accreditation system for laboratories in California. Dr. Godfrey is recognized as one of the premier authorities in the country on laboratory automation systems. He and his labs have been recognized for advancements in automated technologies that lead to legally defensible data. Today Dr. Godfrey leads interdisciplinary teams in business and organizational development, process improvement, and quality assurance for Montrose’s Environmental Laboratory Services Division, a significant national provider of environmental tests & measurements including; drinking and wastewater, air and stack testing, industrial hygiene, radiochemistry, contaminated site remediation, waste characterization, aquatic toxicity, and environmental microbiology. Dr. Godfrey is immediate past President of the Pacific Southwest Section of the Association of Official Analytical Chemists (AOAC), Chairman-Elect of the American Council of Independent Laboratories (ACIL), the nation’s trade association for independent scientific, testing and engineering firms; and a voting representative on California’s Environmental Laboratory Technical Advisory Committee (ELTAC) overseeing California’s environmental laboratory accreditation program.
